The market today

Bitcoin traded at about $76,400, down 0.5% in 24 hours and 5.5% over the past week. Ethereum held near $2,250, off 0.2% on the day and 4.4% on the week. The total crypto market is worth about $2.59 trillion, down 0.4%, and Bitcoin makes up 59.2% of it.

The day was quiet rather than sharp. Of the top 100 coins, 51 fell and 49 rose, an almost even split. The Fear & Greed Index reads 34, which counts as Fear. That is a step up from 26 yesterday, so mood improved a little even as prices edged lower.

Biggest movers

THORChain (RUNE) led the top 200 with a 12.9% rise to about $0.62, on trading volume 4.4 times its 30-day average. Kinetiq (KNTQ) gained 12.2% and Kamino (KMNO) 8.4%, though Kamino is still down 18% on the week. Bitway rose 6.2% after a 44% weekly drop.

On the downside, Beam fell 11.4% despite a strong week. Official Trump (TRUMP) lost 6.2% and now sits at its lowest price in 30 days. Convex Finance and Jito also hit 30-day lows.

Among sectors, Privacy Coins rose 3.4% and Zero Knowledge projects 2.9%. Zcash gained 4.3% and Monero 2.6%. Oracle tokens lost 2.8%, with Chainlink down 3.2%.

What drove it

No single event moved the whole market. Bitcoin's small dip fits a cautious mood after a weak week, with the Fear & Greed Index still in fear territory.

The clearest coin-specific driver was THORChain. News reports say it restarted most swaps after a halt, and RUNE rallied on heavy volume. Its gain is far larger than anything the wider market did, which points to a story of its own.

Other headlines add background rather than direct price action. US midterm election coverage is focused on how crypto policy may be shaped. Reports of a $133 million theft from a French bank, and a claim that Tether holds more Bitcoin than its reserve report shows, are also in the news. The data does not tie either to today's prices.
