How to pay less gas
Ethereum fees rise when many people want block space at once: big market moves, popular token launches and NFT mints. Weekends and late-night hours in the US are usually cheaper. If a transaction is not urgent, choose the slow setting and it will usually confirm within a few minutes anyway.
For small, frequent transactions, layer 2 networks such as Arbitrum, Base and Optimism cost a fraction of mainnet. On Bitcoin, the economy rate is fine for payments that can wait an hour or more. Fees move fast when the market moves; check the Fear & Greed Index and Ethereum price for context.

What is the ETH gas price right now?
About 0.22 gwei for a standard transaction: a 0.17 gwei base fee plus a priority tip. Slow is 0.17 gwei and fast is 1.6 gwei. A simple ETH transfer costs about $0.01.
What are slow, standard and fast?
Since the London upgrade every Ethereum transaction pays the block's base fee, which is burned, plus a tip to the validator. Slow, standard and fast add the 10th, 50th and 90th percentile tips paid in the last 20 blocks. A higher tip gets you into a block sooner when blocks are full.
What is a gwei?
One billionth of an ether (0.000000001 ETH). Gas prices are quoted in gwei per unit of gas; the fee is the gas price times the gas the transaction uses.
Why do the dollar costs differ by action?
A plain ETH transfer always uses 21,000 gas. Token transfers, swaps and mints run contract code and use more; our figures are typical amounts, and your wallet shows the exact estimate before you sign.
How are Bitcoin fees measured?
In satoshis per virtual byte (sat/vB) of transaction size. The dollar figures here assume a common 141 vB payment with one input and two outputs.
