how_it_works

How the market cap calculator works

  1. We take the coin's live price and market cap, which together give its circulating supply.
  2. The target market cap divided by that supply is the price the coin would need.
  3. Supply changes over time as new coins are issued or burned, so treat long-range targets as rough.

Questions

Why use market cap instead of price?

A coin's price alone says nothing about its size: a $0.50 coin can be worth more in total than a $500 coin. Market cap shows how much money a price target really implies.

Does this predict a price?

No. It shows the arithmetic of a market cap target, not whether that target is likely.

What about fully diluted value?

This calculator uses circulating supply. Coins with large locked or unissued supply would need even more money to reach the same price later.
